Quick & Easy Holiday Party Ideas

The holidays are definitely my favorite time of the year for decorating the house and gathering friends and family together. And now with my daughters off to college and beyond, I like to also make their visits back home a little extra special. Let’s start with the main attraction at almost any holiday party…gathering around the table and bringin’ on the food! So, set a table that will have guests saying, “Wow!” Don’t stress as it’s really not a difficult decorating task, just think of these three styling tips: first, a variety of heights on display down the center of the table; second, a mix of textures such as shiny glass, warm woods and smooth metals; and third, candlelight. Now let me share a few more holiday party ideas to get you ready for your next gathering this season.

Remember white goes with everything

White porcelain dishes are the perfect base for each place setting at your holiday party. Plus, white porcelain is easy to dress up for party and use for simple everyday family dinners. For holiday parties, I like to layer the dishes and add a holiday touch with a pinecone and a sprig of pine needles. (Tip: Try a drop of cinnamon or frankincense essential oils on the pinecone for added scent.) Remember that not all holiday parties need to be a red and green color theme. Go with black, white and gold for a cool, wintry color combination.

Set the mood with scents

Who doesn’t like the smell of a fresh cut Christmas tree during the holiday season? I know I do, even though my tree is artificial! A holiday-themed wax warmer will do the trick to fill the room with the scent of a pine forest. Just look for wax cubes with a fresh cut Frasier or evergreen fragrance. If the vibe of a wintry forest isn’t for you, try some of my other favorite wax cube scents like Sugared Caramel Drizzle or Banana Pumpkin Bread. (These are certain to make your guests hungry). Or try melting two different flavored wax cubes together in your wax warmer. One of my favorite combinations is Weekend Camping Trip with Smoky Mountain Air. This holiday season, mix and match wax cubes to develop a signature scent that’s all your own.

Holiday party game time ideas

At my holiday parties, I always like to break out a few games to get people to interact and have a few laughs. I’m sure you have favorite card games and other more interactive games like charades and musical chairs. At the end of the night, you might declare a winner and have one special prize for that guest to take. I love gifting things that are food and beverage-related like popcorn and coffee. Or candles that the guest can enjoy at home while they reflect back on the fun that they had at your holiday party. Don’t bother to wrap it up, I prefer to just use a simple basket or tray and dress it up with a bow or sprig of holiday greenery.
