Things to Do in Brevard County This Weekend: 01/18 to 01/21

This weekend are quite a few events for the entire family to enjoy. It’s going to be a chilly one at night, though, so don’t forget your jackets!

All weekend long is the Fellsmere Frog Leg Festival in Fellsmere. At the Titusville Playhouse is La Cage aux Folles. While at the Henegar in Melbourne is Bonnie & Clyde. There is also the Sebastian Riverfront Fine Art and Music Festival which proceeds tomorrow through the rest of the weekend. Then in Viera is another Art Festival from Saturday till Sunday at the Avenues.

Then today is the East Coast Gymnastics: Preschool Open Gym from 9:30-10:30, Mimi’s Crafts in Satellite Beach is also having a family day all day starting at 1030am. Then Coastal Elite in Merritt Island has a open gym as well from noon till 2pm. They have bounce houses, trampolines, rope swings, a tumble track, and more. This event is open to all kids aged 4-18. I wish I was young enough to join ha! As featured previous weeks, there will be Tales for Tails at DeGroodt Library from 3-4pm. This is a perfect event for kids to practice their reading skills and spend some time with service animals. Another indoor event is Free Movie Friday at the Sunflower House from 1-3pm at the Merritt Square Mall. Today’s movie is The House with a Clock in its Walls. Another movie night will be in Satellite Beach at the David R. Schecheter Community Center. They will be featuring Trolls and the Satellite Beach PAL will be teaming up with them to bring all the Food Trucks. Before the movie there will be fun kids activities. Don’t forget to bring your own lawn chair, blankets, and of course jackets.

Something for the adults tonight, there is a Ballroom beginner group class and dance party at the Melbourne Ballroom. All ages, levels, singles, partners, and groups are welcome to join at 645pm. Also tonight is an Evening with Jeffrey Wands, a psychic medium. This is a upraiser for the Woman’s Club in Melbourne at 7pm.

Also tonight is the Space Race 3K Walk/Run. This will take place at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex at 730pm. The racers get to go past eight authentic rockets, the booster stack,  the Shuttle Atlantis, and the US Astronaut Hall of Fame. It has a suggested donation of $5 and is open to everyone.

On Saturday, is the Tchaikovsky & Friends: Brevard Symphony Orchestra at the King Center in Melbourne. Also on Saturday is Toddler Time at the Sky Zone in the morning from 830-10am. Get those kids out and playing in this unique and fun opportunity.

After the kids have worked up an appetite, check out the 8th Annual Florida Key Lime Pie Festival at the Brevard Veterans Memorial in Merritt Island from 10-6pm. There will be tastings of pie, games, and a key lime pie eating contest.

Another way to get your appetite for the key lime pie eating contest is running the Fly Fish 5k run/walk in the morning at 730 at the Knight Enterprises in Titusville. This is a fundraiser that helps the lives of those suffering from Breast Cancer.

Also in the morning at 8am is Boating Safety Class in Cape Canaveral at the Integrated Mission Operations Center. This is provided by the Coast Guard Auxiliary to help educate the public on recreational boat safety.

All day long at the Riverview Park in Melbourne will be the Downtown Farmers Market and Vegan Event. There will also be Food Trucks as well as healthy food vendors and locally made merchandise. The Cocoa YMCA will also have an open house from 10-1pm.

On Sunday, bring your fishing poles and little ones to the LaPorte Gone Fishing event. This is all day on Sunday for $5/person. There will be a Kids Fishing Tournament and everyone is guaranteed to catch at least one fish. Bait is provided.

Then at Wickham Park in Melbourne is the annual Renaissance Fair from 10-6pm. There will be a full cast of characters and visitors are welcome to also dress up. There will be a variety of food, activities, and shows throughout the park.

Then at the Fun Town in Melbourne is a Family Night Special. There will be skating with skate rental, laser tag, and bounce house for everyone to enjoy. This event starts at 5pm.

Also Sunday is the Brides and Blooms Bridal Showcase at the Melbourne Auditorium from 1-430. One trick for these types of things is to create a wedding email address because most vendors ask for you to put yours down for goodies.

Then at the Playalinda Brewing Company is a live concert by JUNOsmile from noon till 3pm. Tey play a wide range of folk, bluegrass, rock, and country to keep the bier garten in in a fun and laid back mood.

I hope to see some of you out on the town this weekend and enjoying our community and all it offers. Don’t hesitate to say hi if you see me or introduce yourself if we have yet to meet. I love this community and everyone here. Have a safe and fun weekend!
