Cocoa Homes for Sale
Cocoa, not to be confused with Cocoa Beach, is centrally located in Brevard County. Cocoa is a large and popular city with a unique history. How the town was given its name is still unknown. One story says mail used to be delivered by river boat and was placed in an empty tin box labeled Baker’s Cocoa. Others say that Cocoa was named after an early hotel in the area called Cocoa House. The first major growth of the town occured in the early 1960’s with the development of Kennedy Space Center. Population quickly grew with the tourism industry following closely behind as many people began to come to the area to see rocket launches. At one time the town hosted the Colt 45s spring baseball team, later known as the Houston Astros. The city has a popular downtown, historic district known as Cocoa Village. Cocoa Village is so popular it has its own section on this website. People from all over the county come to browse the boutique shops, enjoy the up and coming food scene, and stay for the entertainment at the restaurants and bars who host local bands.
Cocoa Real Estate
The city is a total of 13.3 square miles with 2.1 of it being water so the real estate here offers the best of both worlds. For those looking to stay home and relax, there are beautiful waterfront homes and condominiums. Cocoa Village has both historic and newer construction homes that are within walking distance to community events, shopping, and recreation. Real estate outside of Cocoa Village varies from high end luxury estates to starter homes to new construction. Another area with a Cocoa mailing address is Port St John. This bedroom community lies between Cocoa and Titusville. Port Saint John has its own section on this website because its residents enjoy their own sense of community, separate from the City of Cocoa. The one thing that all of Cocoa shares is the short drive to the ocean. From most places in Cocoa it only takes 20 minutes to get to the beach.
