About Indialantic

Nestled between the Indian River Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean, this town got its name from a combination of the two bodies of water that surround it. In 2010, the population was 2,720 and it has not grown much since then. It keeps its small town feel and amazing beach vibes. This quaint town has a lot to offer, though. The city has many accessible parks for everyone to enjoy, as well as quaint shops and delicious restaurants. The town is only a hop and skip over the bridge from Melbourne. In 1921, the original owner built a wooden bridge by himself. In 1947 that wooden bridge was later replaced by a drawbridge, which was delayed for years by the war. It wasn’t until 1985 that the bridge was replaced with what you see now - a large causeway built to avoid obstructing boats using the Indian River.

Indialantic Real Estate

Indialantic was started as an exclusive beach holiday destination. As this barrier island attracted more and more vacationers, some didn’t want to leave. People began staying year round and the community began to grow. The housing is as varied as the people who reside here. You can find small condos, townhouses, single family homes, and luxurious estates on the ocean or river.. Residents vary from young families to retired people.

Living in Indialantic

Indialantic offers many recreational opportunities for residents and visitors. On any given day, you’ll see surfers, swimmers, sun bathers, runners, walkers, and bicyclists enjoying the town’s recreational resources. This small town boasts six parks for lots of outdoor activities within the community. One park is located directly on the water with paved parking, picnic tables, and a dune crossover, which is all accessible by ramp. Included at this park is also exercise stations for those looking to get a workout in the Florida sunshine. Another park has a pier with a covered observation deck outfitted with binoculars at regular and accessible heights with a concrete walkway to and from the pier and two handicap parking stalls. This town is great for new couples, families, and those looking to retire. The town has a tradition since 1985 where residents have lit luminaria before Christmas when firemen have distributed candy to children from a fire truck on every street. Locals also benefit from the purchase of a parking sticker that allows you to park in any park or beach metered spot as long as you would like so no need to worry about how many quarters you have or the meter running out.
